After a long and very exciting road to get to this point, I can finally reveal my latest commission piece; ‘Habitats; Sugar & Spice//And All Things Weird’. With thoughts on the unusually decent Manchester summer we had last year, the segmented sun drenches the terraces with a huge dose of bitter-sweet sunshine. This piece also features alongside ‘Habitats; Back2Back’ on two versions of Duerr’s marmalade range.
A commission for this piece cropped up just at the time I was looking to create a design based on this very location, so to do it justice I ended up attempting nine layers of colour in one of the most technically challenging pieces I’ve created to-date.
The client for this piece was after an artwork for use as both a promotional graphic aswell as for display in their bar. The linocut design was required to reflect recently uncovered Art Deco stained glass windows from the original shop frontage and also to celebrate the locality of Urmston and the bars presence as a leading independent institution.
